Director of Worship and Music Ministry

Reports To: Senior Pastor (primary), in cooperation with Deacons, Personnel Committee, and Congregation
Status:  Full-Time
Church Size: ~400
Membership Required: Yes – must affirm and align with the church’s Statement of Faith

Position Summary:
We are seeking a Director of Worship and Music Ministry who deeply loves the Lord, treasures the local church, and is called to lead God’s people in worship that is both Spirit-led and Christ-centered. We’re seeking someone who is humble, team-oriented, and passionate about fostering a culture of worship that honors God and engages the entire church.
This individual will give leadership to all aspects of worship ministry, including music, sound, lighting, and team development. Most importantly, the Director must be someone who leads from the overflow of personal worship and models servant-hearted ministry throughout the life of the church.

Primary Responsibilities:
Spiritual Leadership in Worship
Plan and lead weekly worship services that glorify God and edify the congregation
Help guide the church in a deep and vibrant Spirit-led worship culture
Shepherd and disciple worship team members spiritually and relationally
Team & Ministry Development
Recruit, equip, and coordinate musicians, vocalists, and audio/visual volunteers
Foster a culture of humility, excellence, and unity within the worship and tech teams
Work with current team members to discover and develop their gifts
Technical Oversight
Responsible for sound, lighting, and media setup for services and events
Ensure smooth and effective worship services through preparation and technical awareness
Collaborative Ministry
Participate in the broader life of the church, supporting and engaging in other ministries and events
Collaborate regularly with the Senior Pastor and staff to shape service flow and church direction
Attend staff meetings, leadership training, and other gatherings as needed

Character & Qualifications:
A growing, personal relationship with Jesus Christ, marked by humility, integrity, and spiritual maturity
A heart for worship that exalts Christ above performance
A team player with strong relational skills who enjoys collaboration and unity in ministry
Musically gifted and able to lead vocally and/or instrumentally
Competent in sound systems, lighting, and basic media/tech setup
Willingness to grow and adapt as the church grows in its vision for worship
Must become a member of the church and affirm our Statement of Faith

Preferred (but not required):
Experience leading worship in a local church setting
Ability to mentor young musicians and develop worship leaders from within the congregation
Willing to be part of the community and relocate if necessary.

Administrative Assistant
First Baptist Church of Odessa

Reports To:  Senior Pastor
Position Status:  Full Time Regular – Non–Exempt
Hours:  Monday – Friday (Salaried 40 hours per week) Weekend/ Evening hours may also be required depending on church programs and events


Qualifications:
Must be a member in good standing
College degree or equivalent work-related experience
Minimum of 3 years’ experience as an Administrative Assistant
Strong computer skills are imperative (MS Windows, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Proficient in the use of standard office tools
Demonstrated proficiency in the use of Google calendars
Strong organizational skills
Have excellent command of English composition and punctuation

Purpose of the Position:

The primary function is to provide secretarial/ administrative assistance to church members and all professional church staff.
Job Duties Include, but are not limited to:
Pick up, distribution, and dissemination of all mail and correspondence
Screening and routing all incoming telephone calls
Prepare, proof, print, and fold weekly bulletins
Prepare a weekly email for the distribution list
Prepare a monthly church newsletter
Check the general church email and respond or route to the appropriate pastor
Maintenance and organization of the foyer
Organization and maintenance of the Google calendar setup for employed staff
Ordering and maintenance of office supplies/ equipment
Maintain accurate membership records (new members, baptisms, weddings, deaths, etc.)
Coordinate scheduling for weddings and baptisms
Answer mail, correspondence, phone calls, etc.
Process baby dedications requests,  prepare baptism certificates, death certificates, and deacon certificates
Prepare new member information packets
Maintain and update all standard forms and ministry literature
